Going Home

Your life is a very long weekend.
Live it. Love it.
Bask in the heat of the sun.
Smell the sweet scent of the trees that the cool wind carries.
Pick that ripe fruit and taste its bittersweetness.
Play in the sand.
Run like a kid on the fresh blades of grass.
But when your skin starts to ache
Or your feet get blisters
When your hair dries up
Or when you start to feel your empty stomach
When you get tired
Pack your bags
Go home
I'll be waiting.

Sunset Boulevard
Despite how jaded and materialistic the world has turned out, it is such a relief to discover that there are still people who find walking by the breakwater during sunset sweet. Simple things still matter after all.

All Friendship and No Broken Hearts
He'd kill me if he sees this. hahaha.
I met Jeff one morning on my way to work. I was having breakfast at one of the fastfoods in Ayala and there he was on the other table exchanging glances with me. He is cute. Being the malandi that I was, I finished off my pancakes and transferred to his table for some small talk. Well, come to think of it, we barely talked. I just sat there and we stared at each other. Nobody wanted to talk. I had to go in a few minutes so I grabbed a pen from my bag and wrote my number on the receipt. I slipped it on his hand, winked and smiled at him, and left. I received a text from him after a few minutes. He was apologizing for being torpe, and that he was glad that I was brave enough to get up to him and leave my number. We texted each other the entire day. He said he was glad we met.
But then you just know when it’s not worth it. He doesn’t answer most of my questions. No matter how I want to talk to him about many other things, he manages to steer the talk towards a neutral topic. When I text him about serious stuff, ask him about work, family, and friends, or when we talk about what we were all about, he doesn’t text back.
Last weekend we were able to spend some time with each other. We went out and just talked the whole time. All of my questions were answered. Is it really not worth it? Let me put it this way. Jeff is not relationship material. At least not for me. He knows what he wants and he had no qualms of letting me know about it, something that I appreciate better than him taking me for a ride. We've leveled our expectations and now everything is in its place. At the end of the day, there was all friendship and no broken hearts.
I've created a playlist about Jeff and I which I want to share with you guys. The centerpiece of this playlist if this song by Joe featuring N'sync:
"I Believe In You"
I never believed in dreaming, it never got me very far.
I never believed that love could find me, like an arrow through the heart.
I never believed in miracles, or building castles in the air.
Not until that day I found you, turned around and you were there.
From the day you came, you gave me, a whole new point of view.
I've been touched by an angel, it's impossible, but true.
I believe in you.
I swear that forever from today, no one will ever take your place.
I believe in you.
And I believe our love will last always.
I never believed in fairy tales, tho sometimes I wish I could,
I never believed that golden slippers could ever find the perfect foot.
I never believed in magic, or that wishes could come true,
But your very first kiss changed all this, something only you could do.
You made me a believer, you made me trust again,
You showed there's a pot of gold, at every rainbow's end.
I believe in you.
I swear that forever from today, no one will ever take your place.
I believe in you.
And I believe our love will last always.
Only love, sets you free,
And if you serve to fate, then you're my destiny.
Now I know, now I see.
Anything can happen, if you just believe.
I believe in you.
I swear that forever from today, no one will ever take your place.
I believe in you.
And I believe our love will last always.
The other songs in the playlist are the following:
Last Chance by Allure
Kung Ako na Lang Sana by Bituin Escalante
Ikaw and Lahat sa Akin by Pipo Lina
I'd Still Say Yes by The Braxtons
Listen to the songs here Jeff and I.

juOnbox Music: Pangarap Ko ang Ibigin Ka (For Mr. Crush)

That diabetic smile on my face is unbelievable! I have a crush on somebody and I can't help it! What's worse is that I get these songs playing in my head when I see him. It's so high school. Which explains why I'm posting another song here. ;-)
And to you Mr. Crush, I know you'll be reading this whether you like it or not. Yeah it's you. I think you're cute. And if I get to see you, I'll tell this to your face. And probably sing to you as well. :-)
You can click on the link to listen to the song.
Pangarap Ko ang Ibigin Ka
Tuwing ikaw ay nariyan
Sabay kong nadarama ang kaba at ligaya
Ang 'yong tinig wari ko'y di marinig
'Pagkat namamangha 'pag kausap ka
Kaya nais kong malaman mo
Akong makapiling at ibigin

Why does love have to be so bittersweet?
Mamahalin
Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin

A New Mac for My Mac!

I didn't think excitement over a new OS would keep me up so late at night because of anticipation. The last time I stayed up very late was months ago when somebody was installing hardware in my slot. hahahahaha
I got hold of my copy of the new Mac OS X 10.5, more popularly known as Leopard, Tuesday lunch time (Thanks Mudz and Neil!). I got around to starting the install only when I got home. Before I started, I had to consult with Mudz and Neil since they installed theirs earlier. Apparently, Neil experienced the blue screen of death during his install so he had to do a clean one instead of just upgrading. I had to get over that initial apprehension before I slotted the disk in my port. Thankfully, aside from minimal hitches, the install went pretty well. Ang bilis! Ginabi lang ako dahil pagkatapos ng installation, I couldn't help exploring it. Galeng!

juOn Break: Pinoy Mountain Coffee

Robinsons Pioneer is a favorite hangout of mine because of free wifi. And wifi is best enjoyed with coffee and something to eat. There used to be a Coffee Beanery at the second floor but it closed down a few months ago. Wifi at Robinsons was never the same again after that. Well, until today when I chanced upon the newly opened coffee specialty store Pinoy Mountain Coffee.
It is located right smack at the main entrance of Robinsons Pioneer so it's not very hard to miss. If you frequent this mall, you'd know that this coffee shop has no competition, literally, since there's no other choice. No Starbucks. No Gloria Jeans. No Seattle's Best. Sayang ang wifi tuloy. But not anymore.
The little store looks pretty interesting. Its ambience reminds me of Baguio, with carved wood all over the place, from the facade of the counter to the bar stools and some of the seats. The down side is that the place is pretty small: 2 round tables for 4 in the outside lobby for smokers, a similar table inside the mall, and a sala-type setting with an old chest serving as table, two single chairs and a scrap-wood settee. The smokers area is separated from the rest of the mall's outside lobby with two karitela wheels and a capiz shell wall. The place looks pretty cozy. It gave me the feeling that I was having coffee in my lola's house. Except that I had wifi.
The whole point of course of this exercise was to taste the coffee. I ordered brewed coffee and caramel brownies. I love coffee, whatever kind it is. The brewed coffee that I ordered is a pleasant respite from my daily dose of Mister Donut brewed coffee. And the brownies was really good. It was moist and chewy and so good to eat. It was a perfect compliment to my warm strong coffee.
The best part was that the price was affordable. The medium-sized coffee and the brownies cost me 70 pesos only.
There is one point for improvement, though. They could make the serving time a little swifter.
Verdict:
If you love food, kwento, or (free) Internet with your coffee, check out Pinoy Mountain Coffee at Robinsons Pioneer.

Diwa Idol First Elimination Round
The night before the elimination round, I was working my ass off to finish a deadline with my great team from Harrison Communications. We went home 8 am. I took a quick breakfast and shower and headed off to Araneta Coliseum for, nope not the elimination rounds yet, but a meeting with the Leasing Departmen for my September 01 event. Pota. When I got to the office at around 12, the eliminations will be starting in 30 and I haven't got no decent practice. I was supposed to be number 7 but because I had to finish some work, the rganizer volunteered to move me to the last. It bought me 20 minutes of time alone to practice. I got frustrated during practice coz for some reason I keep on forgetting the damn lyrics. Sabi ko bahala na. When it was my turn, I felt confident because I felt the excitement of the crowd seeing me there. It got me going. Akalain mo, I sang the whole song with the correct lyrics. And I even topped the eliminations. Pota. Isang libo rin yun. Hahahahaha. I'll be better prepared next time. Mapagkakakitaan pala ang pagkanta. hahahahahaha
*****************
I sang Peabo Bryson's If Ever You're in My Arms Again. Akalain mong a few hours after some guy from the past would actually want to sing that song to me. Hala.
IF EVER YOU'RE IN MY ARMS AGAIN (Peabo Bryson)
It all came so easy, all the loving you gave me
The feelings we shared, and I still can remember
How your touch was so tender, it told me you cared
We had a once in a lifetime
But I just couldn't see, until it was gone
A second once in a lifetime, may be too much to ask
But I swear from now on
Chorus:
If ever you're in my arms again
This time I'll love you much better
If ever you're in my arms again
This time I'll hold you forever
This time will never end
Now I'm seeing clearly
How I still need you near me
I still love you so
There's something between us
That won't ever leave us
There's no letting go
We had a once in a lifetime
But I just didn't know it
Till my life fell apart
A second once in a lifetime
Isn't too much to ask
'Cause I swear from the heart
Chorus
The best of romances,
deserve second chances
I'll get to you somehow
'Cause I promise now
